GOVERNMENT NOTICE
Pursuant to the “Surface Mining Conservation and Reclamation Act,” the "Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Rules and Regulations," and the “Clean Streams Law,” notice is hereby given that Coal Valley Sales, LLC, PO Box 221, Zelienople, Pennsylvania 16063, has made application to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection for renewing its existing surface coal mine permit and the related NPDES permit. The current permit #02090201 was issued on April 19, 2011, and will expire on April 18, 2026. This renewal does not contain revisions to the existing operation. The receiving streams for this permit area are unnamed tributaries to Little Deer Creek and Little Deer Creek. The operation is located in West Deer and Indiana Townships, Allegheny County, and is known as the Russellton Mine. The permit area is situated east of Rich Hill Road, south of Michael Road, and west of Little Deer Creek Road, approximately 0.8 miles southwest of Russellton, PA, on The Clean Streams Foundation, Inc. property.
The New Kensington West, Pa., U.S. Geological Survey 7.5-minute topographic map contains the area described.
A copy of the application is available for public inspection at the Department of Environmental Protection, New Stanton District Office, 131 Broadview Road, New Stanton, PA 15672.
Written comments, objections, or a request for a public hearing or informal conference may be submitted to the Department of Environmental Protection, New Stanton District Office, 131 Broadview Road, New Stanton, PA 15672, within 30 days following the date of the last (i.e., 4th) publication of this notice and must include the person’s name, address, telephone number, and a brief statement as to the nature of the objection(s).
