PUBLIC NOTICE

 

At a public meeting to be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Southwest Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department Building, 401 Guthrie Street, Southwest Greensburg, PA 15601, the Council of Southwest Greensburg Borough will consider the enactment of an Ordinance entitled:

 

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF SOUTHWEST GREENSBURG, COUNTY OF WESTMORELAND, COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA, ACKNOWLEDGING THE ELIMINATION OF THE BOROUGH’S ONE (1) MILL LIBRARY TAX BY REFERENDUM, CONFIRMING THE REALLOCATION OF THE ONE (1) MIL IN TAXES ATTRIBUTABLE TO THE LIBRARY TAX TO THE BOROUGH’S LEVY FOR GENERAL PURPOSES AND ESTABLISHING, IMPOSING AND AUTHORIZING THE LEVY OF CERTAIN TAXES WITHIN THE BOROUGH FOR 2026

 

If enacted, the Ordinance would recognize the elimination of the Borough’s one (1) mil Library Tax and the reallocation of the 1 mil in revenues for same to the Borough’s real property taxes for General Purposes. While the effective tax rate remains the same as in 2024 and 2025, the reallocation increases the millage rate for General Borough Purposes from 27 mils to 28 mils. A copy of the Ordinance is available for review and photocopy during normal business hours in the Office of the Secretary of Southwest Greensburg Borough, the newspaper of general circulation in which this notice appears and on the Borough’s web page. Any person having an interest in the enactment of this Ordinance should make plans to attend the public meeting at the time, date and place set forth above.
