The General Primary will be held in Allegheny County on Tuesday May 19 2026 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. prevailing time. Only registered electors of the Democratic & Republican parties may vote for the nomination of 1 candidate for each of the following Public Offices: GOVERNOR LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR REPRESENTATIVE IN CONGRESS all districts SENATOR IN THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY even numbered districts REPRESENTATIVE IN THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY all districts. Party Offices to be elected at the 2026 General Primary include: DEMOCRATIC STATE COMMITTEE MEMBERS 37th District 2 male 2 female 1 of either 5 total to be elected; 38th District 3 male 3 female 6 total to be elected; 42nd District 3 male 3 female 1 of either 7 total to be elected; 43rd District 4 male 4 female 1 of either 9 total to be elected; 45th District 3 male 3 female 6 total to be elected. REPUBLICAN STATE COMMITTEE MEMBERS 37th District 3 male 3 female 6 total to be elected; 38th District 3 male 3 female 6 total to be elected; 42nd District 2 male 2 female 4 total to be elected; 43rd District 4 male 4 female 8 total to be elected; 45th district 2 male 2 female 4 total to be elected. DEMOCRATIC COUNTY COMMITTEE 1 County Committee Male Member and 1 County Committee Female Member in each election district in Allegheny County REPUBLICAN COUNTY COMMITTEE 1 County Committeeman and 1 County Committeewoman in each election district in Allegheny County.

All registered electors in the City of Pittsburgh regardless of party affiliation may vote the following ballot question.

 

“Shall the City of Pittsburgh Home Rule Charter Article Three Legislative Branch be amended by changing public hearing notice requirements to adjust for public hearing notice requirements in light of changes in the public consumption of newspapers of general circulation and increased use of digital media?”

 

Explanation of Ballot Question

 

Should this Home Rule Charter Amendment receive a majority of affirmative (yes) votes The City of Pittsburgh Home Rule Charter Article Three Legislative Branch shall be amended to allow the City of Pittsburgh to utilize alternate methods to post notice of public hearings before City Council and not solely rely on newspapers of general circulation.

THIS NOTICE IS PUBLISHED ACCORDING TO THE FEDERAL ACCESSIBILITY FOR THE ELDERLY AND HANDICAPPED ACT (P.L. 98-435) AND THE TERM “ACCESSIBLE” IS USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH ACT P.L. 98-435 AND NOT THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA).

NOTICE OF ELECTIONS PRE-CANVASS

 

Pursuant to Pa. Act 12 of 2020 the Allegheny County Board of Elections through the Allegheny County Division of Elections shall commence a Pre-Canvass of absentee and mail-in ballots cast on May 19 2026 at 7:00 AM prevailing time at our Election Division Warehouse located at 901 Pennsylvania Ave. Pittsburgh PA 15233.

 

Authorized Representatives with proper credentials and according to the Pennsylvania Election Code may attend the Pre-Canvass. The Pre-Canvass shall continue until the close of the polls at 8:00 PM prevailing time.

 

PUBLIC NOTICE

 

The Allegheny County Board of Elections will begin canvassing the return of the votes cast at the May 19 2026 General Primary as well examining provisional ballots beginning at 9:00 AM Friday May 22 2026 at 901 Pennsylvania Ave. Pittsburgh PA 15233.
